ROCKY ALL STARS SALE HEIFERS

  • ABOUT US

We are Peter and Sue Hammer from Annavale Brahmans, Charter Towers, and we are passionate about this wonderful species of Bos Indicus. Coming from humble beginnings, our story began with an initial pair of Brahman heifers back in 2000. Recognising their suitability for the hot, humid climate, we decided to breed from our heifers. Brahmans make excellent mothers, easily giving birth to small, strong calves that grow quickly, and with strong milking efficiency. We were so successful at breeding from our heifers that we decided to continue with our venture, hoping to provide a serious benefit to Queensland's farmers.

    SIRES BREEDING OBJECTIVES

Peter and Sue Hammer from Annavale Brahmans, Charters Towers, will be taking a draft of three scurred grey bulls to the Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale which will go through the show ring in Lots 367 to 369.

Leading off the studs draft will be Annavale M 756 (S) which Sue Hammer described as a “good long bull, with nice bone”. All three bulls are by the sire, Annavale Galvin (P). The Hammer’s sold two bulls by the same sire at the Gold City Brahman Sale in Charters Towers last year with one of the pair reaching the top price for their draft at the sale.

When selecting their bulls for the sale, the Hammer’s said they looked for bulls with “quiet temperaments, confirmation, good bone structure”.

“We also chose bulls that look similar as it always makes the pen look better when they go through the ring,” she said.

It will be the second Brahman Week Sale for the stud who enjoyed their debut in 2015 by selling their entire draft of three poll greys for good returns.
